Research
Particle physics research is carried out in about twenty universities and research institutions in the UK. Researchers include academic and post-doctoral staff, engineering and technical staff and PhD students. They variously design and build experimental equipment, operate that equipment at experiments in the UK and abroad, analyse the data, and develop theoretical ideas to explain the behaviour of the smallest particles of matter and the forces between them. Particle physics is an international endeavour and much of the work is carried out at accelerator laboratories such as CERN in Switzerland, DESY in Germany, SLAC and Fermilab in the USA.
These pages are intended to provide up-to-date information and links for UK professional particle physicists to aid their work.
Members of the particle physics community can find links to all PP groups in the UK, seminar dates, topics and speakers nationwide, plus job vacancies by institution, administration forms from RAL and links to key academic databases. There is also a section on outreach, to provide first points of contact for any communications queries and ideas.
In the technology section you can also find useful information on Technology Transfer and how to go about making links with industry.
