Outreach
Communicating UK particle physics to a wider audience is vital to maintain support and interest in the field, and above all to communicate the excitement of particle physics beyond the research community. Many UK groups do fantastic work in outreach and the press office at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) actively promotes UK research and offers its support to members of the particle physics community looking to carry out activities in this area. If you have an interesting story, we can advise on whether it is newsworthy and what outlets it might best be suited to – we can also edit or write and then issue press releases for you. We are always looking for suitable milestones and results to create a higher profile for UK particle physics, so please get in touch with any suggestions you have. We work in close partnership with the press offices at the major laboratories and can also liaise with your University press office so that all relevant people are kept in the loop when announcements are made.
